OpenChem is live
This site went into production today. We are launching with ten classic chemistry experiments — each in Hungarian and English, each with a recommended age, a safety step and its own lab photo generated on our own GPUs. From copper(II) sulfate recrystallization to elephant toothpaste: the experiments generations of chemistry teachers have demonstrated.
What is on the site already
- A recommended age on everything
- Every experiment opens with the age we recommend it from, and the fact that it must only be performed under adult supervision. This is not fine print: it is the first thing you read, both in the listing and on the page itself.
- The safety step comes first
- Step one of every procedure is about safety — eye protection, ventilation, what not to do — called out before you measure anything.
- Bilingual content and search
- Every experiment exists as a full Hungarian and English page with its own URL, and both are searchable — two real texts, not machine captions.
- Chemicals and apparatus, separately
- With quantities, quality notes (“at least 98%, school grade”), and where it matters, where the leftovers may go — a copper-ion solution, for instance, never down the drain.
Every photo version is visible
The photos are not stock images: our own image-generation node made them, and at the bottom of each experiment you get the full gallery — not just the chosen picture but every version, next to the image model and text encoder that produced it, their weight file sizes, and the licence they run under. We only offer a download link where the model's licence genuinely allows it.
We do not delete the weaker early versions either. On an AI reference project, showing the improvement is what makes it credible — not just the final result.
What comes next
Ready in the data model but not yet on screen: GHS hazard pictograms per experiment, the protective-equipment icon strip, the stoichiometric scaler (recomputing quantities proportionally from molar mass), the printable lab handout, and mapping experiments to curriculum topics. That is the next round — we will write about each as it ships.
